Recertify your Affordable Connectivity Program eligibility

Don’t let your benefits lapse. ACP guidelines require customers to recertify every year to demonstrate they still qualify. Once you receive a letter from USAC, you must complete the recertification process before the deadline stated in your letter—usually within 60 days of when you receive it.

How to verify your eligibility

Refer to your letter for your Application ID number. If your number begins with the letter “S,” you may use whichever method you choose. If your number begins with the letter “K,” you must provide additional proof documentation and may ONLY use the Online or By Mail options.

By phone

Call 1.877.384.2470 and follow the automated verification process to learn your application status immediately.

Note: not available for "K" applications.

Online

Complete a simple online form to learn your application status immediately.

By mail

Download a form, mail it in, and you will receive a letter to let you know that you are recertified.

If you need more information, refer to the FAQs below or visit the USAC Recertification information page.

Got questions?

How do I know if I need to recertify?

  • Every subscriber that the National Verifier has determined eligible will need to complete USAC’s ACP recertification process. These subscribers will first go through an initial automated database check that will check the subscriber’s eligibility.
  • If USAC cannot confirm you still qualify through an automated database, you will receive a letter to help you recertify.
  • Call the National Verifier support line at (877) 384-2575 to check your recertification status.

Why do I need to recertify?

  • To continue receiving your benefit, the Affordable Connectivity Program requires recertification every year.
  • If you received a letter from USAC you will need to take action to recertify.

When do I need to recertify by?

You have 60 days from the start of your renewal period to recertify for the Affordable Connectivity Program. Your recertification deadline can be found on the letter from USAC.

How do I choose my recertification method?

  • You may use whichever recertification method is easiest for you.
    • If you are NOT required to present additional documentation, we recommend recertifying by phone or online as they are the quickest and will inform you of your application status immediately.
    •  If you are required to present additional documentation, you may not recertify by phone. We recommend the online method—it is the fastest and will inform you of your application status immediately.

How will I know if additional documentation is necessary for recertification?

  • The letter you receive from USAC will indicate if you are required to submit additional documentation. Additionally, you can call the National Verifier support line at (877) 384-2575 to check your recertification status.
    •  If your Application ID starts with the letter “K” you are required to submit eligibility documentation and are only able to recertify by mail or online.
    • If your Application ID starts with the letter “S” you will only be required to submit the recertification form and may use the phone, mail, or online methods.

How will I know if my recertification was approved?

  • Online: After you complete your application, you will be directed to a confirmation page that will tell you whether you were successfully recertified.
  • Phone: After you complete the process, you will be told the status of your recertification.
  • Mail: Once your mailed application is processed, USAC will send you a letter to let you know if you are recertified.

What happens if I don’t recertify on time?

  • You have 60 days to recertify. If you fail to do so, USAC will notify you via USPS mail that your window has closed. You will be de-enrolled from the service after 5 business days.
  • If you lose your Affordable Connectivity benefit but believe you still qualify, you can reapply: nv.fcc.gov/lifeline/?awsl=button-from-how-to-apply&ebbp=true&id=nv_flow&ln=RW5nbGlzaA%3D%3D.
