Have questions about bringing your phone?
We've got answers.
How do I check if I can bring my phone to Metro by T-Mobile?
Using your own phone is a fast, easy, and cost-effective way to join Metro by T-Mobile. If you want to bring your own phone, you’ll first need to check if your phone is compatible with Metro’s network.
Some phones have network hardware that may not work well with Metro’s network. We want you to have a great experience using our network, so if your phone isn’t compatible, we recommend purchasing a new one from us. Also, your phone must be unlocked to switch to Metro. If your phone is locked, contact your old cell phone provider to unlock it for you.
My device is compatible and unlocked. How do I join Metro by T-Mobile?
Once you know that your phone is compatible and unlocked, follow these steps:
- Buy a Metro by T-Mobile SIM Card online or you can start service today by bringing your compatible phone to a local store.
- Pick out your Metro rate plan.
- Once you have your Metro SIM Card call us at 1-888-863-8768 or bring your compatible phone to a local store to activate your Metro SIM Card today.
What's an IMEI number?
The IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number is a unique 15-digit number that is assigned to every phone. We use the IMEI number to determine the device’s make and model, which allows us to make sure that your phone is compatible.
