# Kids' Line Information Notice
This privacy notice describes the personal information we collect and how we use it. __We cannot provide a Kids’ Line with service unless you give your consent.__
If you agree, T-Mobile will collect the following personal information from your child through their use of this line of service:
- __Geolocation Data:__ We collect data that tells us the location of your child’s mobile device.
- __Persistent Identifiers__: We collect device and network identifiers, basically ways for us to tell which mobile device on our network is your child’s.
- __Age:__ We collect your child’s birth month and year so we can tell when your child turns 18 and can change the line back to a regular wireless line.
- __Customer Proprietary Network Information (“CPNI”):__ We collect data about your child’s use of our voice services, like the type, location, destination, and amount of voice calling they use, plus call detail information. See the [__Phone Privacy page__](https://www.t-mobile.com/privacy-center/education/phone-privacy) for more information.
- __Information from your child’s use of our products, services, and network (and other carriers’ networks when roaming domestically or internationally):__ Like usage of connecting carriers and Internet service providers, the Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, text messages, data use history, content interactions (for example, how long you use an app), language settings, and other network and device analytics, and Wi‑Fi connection and usage data.
- __Device and service performance and diagnostic information:__ This includes reports from your child’s device about signal strength, speeds, app and service performance, dropped calls, call and data failures, geolocation information, and device data.
- __Image or audio Information:__ This includes information about your child’s voice during calls, the contents of messages (such as photos, videos, or audio files) shared when your child communicates with others, or voice commands your child provides to our apps (for example, for accessibility features, including translation, or hands-free features).
The main reason we collect children’s data is to provide the product or service that collected the data. But we may also combine and use children’s data to do things like:
- Create and administer accounts, complete transactions, payments, billing, and requests related to our products and services and third-party products and services charged to your accounts.
- Check eligibility for a particular product or service.
- Help stop fraudulent, malicious, deceptive, abusive, or unlawful activities.
- Fix errors and ensure the quality, security, and safety of our products and services and network.
- Guide our development of children’s products and services.
- Conduct aggregate (meaning, data that cannot be associated with an individual child) analyses of product, service, and network performance.
- Cooperate with law enforcement and protect the rights, safety, or property of our customers, T‑Mobile, and others.
- Comply with and enforce legal and regulatory obligations and respond to government requests.
- Enforce our policies, terms and conditions, or other agreements.
- Defend against or pursue claims, disputes, or litigation.
We generally do not enable children to make personal data publicly available, but they can call and send messages to others when using mobile devices.
Sometimes we hire others to help us provide a product or service, and these third parties may need access to children’s data. They are required to keep children’s data we provide them confidential. And to use it only to provide the services we requested.
We may also share children’s data with third parties, including the government, for legal processes or to protect life and safety where we believe that access, use, preservation, or disclosure of the data is reasonably necessary.
You have rights when it comes to your child’s data. You can:
- Change your mind and withdraw consent to the collection of your child’s personal data.
- See the personal data T‑Mobile has collected about your child.
- Ask us to delete personal data T‑Mobile has collected about your child.
You can take any of these steps by visiting the [__Privacy Center__](https://www.t-mobile.com/privacy-center/dashboard). We may need to collect some data from you to confirm you’re the parent or guardian.
Important: We need to collect your child’s data (as described above) to provide relevant products or services. If you change your mind about giving consent or ask us to delete your child’s data, the product or service may no longer work. __In some cases, the only way for us to stop your child’s data from being collected might be to cancel your child’s service.__ Also, this line will continue to be identified as a Kids’ Line until you make a change or the information you provided indicates your child has reached age 18.
Designating this number as a Kids’ Line doesn't change the account permissions for the line, so the line may still be set as the Primary Account Holder or be assigned Full Account Access. To change this, visit [__My.T‑mobile.com__](http://www.my.t-mobile.com/) and review line settings under your Account Profile or call 611. T‑Mobile may still contact this line for non-marketing purposes, such as notices (including legal notices) related to your account, emergency notifications, and changes in policies, procedures, and the T‑Mobile Terms and Conditions, and may do so in any manner permitted by law, including pre-recorded artificial voice, an automatic telephone dialing system, or text message.
For more information about our privacy practices, please review the [__T‑Mobile Privacy Policy__](https://www.t-mobile.com/privacy-center/privacy-notices/t-mobile-privacy-notice) and the [__Children’s Privacy Notice__](https://www.t-mobile.com/privacy-center/privacy-notices/childrens-privacy-notice).

# Let us share your data with trusted third parties for research purposes
T-Mobile is launching a new effort in 2023 that, with your help, will allow researchers access to data from customers who have given their consent.
From time to time, T-Mobile gets requests from outside researchers or researching institutions to share data for public and scientific research. We thoroughly vet these requests and ensure an agreement is in place that outlines things like what the data can be used for, how it’s handled, and how it must be kept secured. We may partner with organizations such as academic institutions or public interest organizations and their researchers who will act responsibly and ethically for legitimate public and scientific research purposes. T-Mobile won’t share data with law enforcement under this program. Law enforcement demands will continue to go through our Legal and Emergency Response process.
We share data for research on a case-by-case basis. Reasons we might share data include supporting public interest objectives, advancing scientific research, or helping with the development of new technologies to support the public good. We may also share data with organizations that propose research topics that align with T-Mobile’s ongoing mission to build stronger, healthier, and more equitable communities.
To protect your privacy, data we share for public and scientific research at an individual level will be de-identified as much as possible before being shared. For example, we won’t use your name. Instead, we'll assign a unique identifier that includes data about you such as a string of letters and numbers. If you allow us to share data in an aggregate manner, we’ll combine your data with thousands of other users. For example, we could help researchers fight gridlock by studying how many miles on average people commute from certain zip codes each day.
# What this means for you
If you decide to participate in this program, your data may be shared for public and scientific research purposes. For example, T-Mobile may share data to help with initiatives for the public good such as pandemic response and other scientific or research studies.
# Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information
As described in our [Privacy Notice](https://www.t-mobile.com/privacy-center/privacy-notices/t-mobile-privacy-notice), we share certain kinds of data with other companies to enable our own targeted advertising or data sharing in ways that may be considered “selling” data under some privacy laws.
Don’t want us to do that? You can opt out by selecting “Manage Do Not Sell or Share” on the Privacy Dashboard and setting the toggles to “OFF.” You can also use the “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link at the bottom of most of our web pages.
Please note: There are separate toggles to opt out of data sharing for fraud and identity theft protection and to opt out of sharing certain financial data. So you’ll need to set those preferences separately. If you opted in to share additional data (e.g., for our advertising programs) via another toggle in the Dashboard, you’ll need to use that toggle to turn off sharing. Also, there are some kinds of data sharing you can’t opt out of if you want to use our products and services. For example, we may share data with our own service providers to enable the products and services we provide you.
# Share your data to help protect you against fraud and identity theft.
We use your data to create and share indicators to help other companies (like banks and online merchants) spot and protect you against fraud, verify your identity, and authenticate you or your device. For example, your bank may request a score indicating if your contact information has recently changed or if we’ve noticed unusual call activity. This helps them assess whether they should apply additional security measures to make sure it’s actually you.
Don’t want us to share your data with other companies for these purposes? You may opt out by turning this toggle “OFF.”
Check out our [Privacy Notice](https://www.t-mobile.com/privacy-center/privacy-notices/t-mobile-privacy-notice) to see other ways we use and share your data.
# Let us use your data to personalize the ads and offers you receive
In addition to the data used for Relevant Ads, turning on this toggle lets us personalize ads and offers using your browsing activity, precise location (which may include CPNI), interests, demographics (like age and gender), and purchase information. To illustrate, we process the top-level name/URL of the website you visited, such as a major retail website, but we do not look at what web pages within that site you visited (e.g., clothes or toasters).
When we share Mobile Advertising IDs (MAIDs) and inferences with third parties, it is not tied to your name or information that directly identifies you.
You must opt in for these purposes by setting this privacy control to the "ON" position. Note that you must be part of the Relevant Ads program to opt in to Personalized Ads and Offers.
# What this means for you
If you turn Personalized Ads “ON,” you're even more likely to see ads and receive offers about things you like. For example, instead of just receiving ads for fitness trackers or sporty products based on your sports app and your fitness app, we would also use your self-declared interests so we and our marketing partners could send you personalized offers or ads for fitness adventure games or basketball gear.
Some of the data that we may use if you turn this toggle to “ON” could be Customer Proprietary Network Information (CPNI). CPNI is information collected solely because of your relationship with us as your wireless carrier, like the date/time of your calls and how long your calls last. You have a right to decide whether we use and share your CPNI to personalize the ads and offers you might receive. You can learn about the other ways we may continue to use your data, including CPNI, in our Privacy Notice. # What’s a Kids’ Line?
If you’re the parent or guardian of children under the age of 18, you can designate their lines as Kids’ Lines.
About Kids’ Lines:
- Kids’ Lines are for children under the age of 18. Please check birth month and year.
- They’re opted out of online advertising and marketing communications from Metro, including marketing calls, emails, and text messages.
- The data is not used for analytics, data sharing, targeted advertising, or non-essential reporting
- The data is only used for essential services, like device operation or network management.
# What this means for you
We don’t knowingly collect data from or about children under 18 without the permission of their parent or guardian—and we don’t knowingly sell or share that data, including for advertising purposes.
A Kids’ Line designation ends the month after the child’s 18th birthday. Please note that Kids’ Lines are not eligible for T-Mobile Tuesdays benefits.

# Choose how and when you receive marketing communications from us
You’re in control of managing the number of promotional emails, calls, texts, and direct mail messages we send you. You can always opt out of some or even all of our marketing communications.
If you opt out, you’ll still get necessary account information such as invoices, customer-service notices, and transactional notices.
# What this means for you
To hear less from us, just update your marketing preferences. Similarly, if your inbox is filled with marketing communications from other companies, visit their websites or apps to change your privacy settings.

# Let us analyze your data and use it to create reports
Our Analytics and Reporting program uses information from your device data (i.e., app usage data like app name, installation status, how often an app was opened and zip code) and data from your use of T-Mobile products and services such as self-declared data like age range (e.g., 25-34) and gender, to prepare aggregated business and marketing reports that we use and share with other companies.
# What this means for you
One example might be a report showing how often a game app was downloaded in the past year across a large number of users. These reports don’t identify you personally.
# Let us use your data to make ads more relevant to you
For Relevant Ads, T-Mobile will use and analyze app usage data from your device like app name, app installation status, and how often an app was opened, self-declared data from your use of T-Mobile products and services such as age range (e.g., 25-34) and gender, and high-level app usage data from your T-Mobile broadband to create models and inferences (e.g., sports lover, cooking enthusiast).
To illustrate what high-level app usage data from your broadband is used, we process the name of an app you opened, like a recipe app, and how long you spent in that app, but we do not see any additional information, like, for example, that you looked at Italian and Thai recipes.
We do not use app usage data to select advertisements, we only use your Mobile Advertising ID (MAID) and the models and inferences created from the app usage data. We and our advertising partners will use your MAID from your device and data from third-party partners to deliver relevant ads to you.
When we share MAIDs and inferences with third parties, it is not tied to your name or information that directly identifies you.
If you tell us you don’t want us to use this data for these purposes by setting this privacy control to the “OFF” position, you’ll still receive ads, but they won’t be tailored to you.
# What this means for you
If you turn Relevant Ads “ON,” you're more likely to see ads about things you like. For example, if you have a sports app and a fitness app, then we and our marketing partners may send you relevant ads for fitness trackers or sporty products to your device.
