  1. Current Metro phone number
  2. Metro PIN – 8-digit PIN you use to log-in
  3. ID - driver’s license, state issued ID, military ID, passport, federally issued disability ID, US0 issued Alien ID, Tribal Issued ID, Puerto Rico Voters ID
  4. Valid Email Address

Important next steps to complete your migration to T-Mobile

You’ve initiated your move to T-Mobile. Congratulations! After speaking with a Virtual Retail Representative, here’s everything you need to complete the migration smoothly and accurately set up your device.

Before your order arrives:

If you are receiving a new T-Mobile device:

  • Agree and sign your Equipment Installment Plan (EIP), provided via email.
  • Must be done within 48 hours to avoid order cancellation.

Shipping information:

  • Orders typically arrive in 2 – 3 business days. Out-of-stock devices will take a little longer.
  • Check your email for Order Confirmation and Shipping & Tracking details.
  • Need More Help? Visit a T-Mobile store with your temporary T-Mobile number, provided via email.

After receiving your order: 

Gather what you need and follow the step-by-step instructions to transfer your number in the T-Life app. Number transfer is needed to complete migration to T-Mobile. Number transfer may be required to retain promotional credits for your new device. Not completing the number transfer after 14 days of line activation may result in the full price of your new device appearing on your bill.

 

What you'll need:

  • Temporary T-Mobile number (provided via email)
  • Metro phone number (current number to be transferred to T-Mobile)
  • Transfer PIN (follow these instructions to get your unique 6-digit Transfer PIN)
    • Download or open the Metro app on your Metro device and log in.
    • Select the Manage tab and find the line you want to transfer.
    • Select Manage This Line, then Request a Transfer PIN. 
    • Select Get a transfer PIN. PIN for phone number will display. 
    • Transfer PIN valid for 7 days.

  • Metro account number (follow these instructions to locate your current carrier 9-digit Account Number)
    • Download or open the Metro app on your Metro device and log in.
    • Select the Manage tab.
    • Scroll to Additional Tasks and select View Payment History.
    • Select View on any bill
    • Locate your account number.
    • Need More Help? Metro My Account (Account > Account Options > Account History > Review Balance & Statements > Download Statements > Locate number at top of statement), ask Metro rep for help, contact Care by dialing 611 from your Metro phone.
  • Billing ZIP code

Transfer your number

Customers with new T-Mobile devicePower on new device. Note: The new device has a digital SIM card (eSIM). You will not need a physical SIM. 

Customers bringing your own device: BYOD to T-Mobile and received a new SIM card - Insert new SIM. Power on. SIM will auto-activate.

 

All customers follow additional steps:

  1. Download or open the T-Life app on your device. 
  2. Complete your account setup and log in. 
  3. Accept the Terms & Conditions, and select Continue
  4. Review additional selections, and select Accept
  5. Select the Manage tab.
  6. Scroll to Additional tasks, and select Check Number Transfer Status.
  7. Select Transfer Another Number, review tips, and select Continue
  8. Gather what you need (see instructions above), then select Ready, Let’s Go
  9. Select Temporary T-Mobile Number from the menu, then enter Number To Transfer (i.e., Metro phone #)
  10. Select Check Number.
  11. Enter the Transfer PIN, current carrier (i.e., Metro) Account Number, and Billing ZIP code
  12. Select Request Transfer.  

Once the number transfer is complete, your T-Mobile migration is complete. Your phone is active and ready to use!
